The restaurant shut down for good on February 19th.

I can remember when the Planet Wings opened up about 20 years ago on Broadway in Kingston. I was living at the the Stoney Run Apartments on Hurley Avenue and couldn't wait to order food from them. It became a weekly thing for me until I moved to Highland in like 2003.

Well, it look it looks like we won't be able to get anymore of the great wings at Planet Wings at least in Kingston.

According to HVNN, the restaurant, which is located at 490 Broadway in Kingston, at the site of the landmark Kingston Post Office has shut down for good.

The restaurant did great for more than 20 years, but Paula Fidanza, the vice president of Planet Wings corporate office in Middletown, told HVNN that franchise owner Tom Smith made the decision to close about a month ago due to declining business.

One of the reasons behind the declining business was Kingston's road work that included the installation of storm water pipes late last year near the restaurant.

Fidanza told HVNN that, “He took a beating with the road, he complained to the city about that. That took a long time, and his sales did drop because of that. People were frequenting other businesses during that time because of the road work.”

About 12 employees lost their jobs due to the closure.

If you are looking for wings, the closest Planet Wings is in Wappingers Falls on Route 9.
