A Hudson Valley man was arrested on consecutive days for allegedly showing up to the same apartment and threatening a group with a weapon.

On Sunday, the New Paltz Police Department responded to an apartment in the Village of New Paltz for a report of an unwanted male having an altercation.

Responding officers began to interview people in the parking lot when they allegedly observed a small amount of marijuana in a vehicle.

A further investigation led to the recovery of a Ruger P-95 9mm handgun loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition, police say.

Wayne Rapache, 22, of Highland was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony.

The Ulster County District Attorney’s Office was contacted for a bail recommendation, which is protocol for felony arrests. The District Attorney’s Office recommended $5,000 bail $10,000 bond, officials say.

Rapache ended up being released on his own recognizance.

The next day, police responded to the same apartment after a resident said that Rapache returned and refused to leave.

It was also reported that after he was released on the charges the day before, that he also returned to the residence and threatened the occupants with what appeared to be another handgun.

Police recovered the alleged weapon and found it to be an air soft pellet gun.

Rapache was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and trespass, all misdemeanors

Rapache was arraigned sent to Ulster County Jail on $50,000 bail or $100,000 bond. He is to return back to the New Paltz Court at a later date.
