
Remembering Ozzy Osbourne with Classic Debut Solo Album
WPDH will play Ozzy's debut solo album Blizzard of Ozz in its entirety this weekend.
Sad news with the passing of Ozzy Osbourne as covered by Ultimate Classic Rock. Health problems plagued Osbourne over his last several years. In 2020, Osbourne revealed he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, which effectively put an end to his touring career. He would, however, make a triumphant return to the stage in July 2025 at the Back to the Beginning Concert reuniting the original Black Sabbath lineup just over two weeks ago.

Ozzy rose to fame as lead singer of Black Sabbath in the 1970's, a band regarded by many as the world's first heavy metal band. After being fired by the band in 1979, he launched a successful solo career in which he released many multi-platinum albums. He has sold over 100 million records worldwide. Ozzy is known to many as "The Godfather of Heavy Metal" was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Black Sabbath in 2006.

Ozzy Osbourne released his debut solo album Blizzard of Ozz in the U.S. in 1981. It would be his first release after his firing from Black Sabbath in 1979. Blizzard of Ozz would be one of two albums Ozzy recorded with guitarist Randy Rhoads before his death in 1981. The album featured singles "Crazy Train" and "Mr. Crowley", and it ranked number 9 on Rolling Stone's list of the "100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time."
