An Orange County man was arrested on drug, and weapons charges after leading police on a foot chase. 

Officers for the City of Newburgh Police Anti-Crime Unit attempted to stop an individual, and as they exited their vehicle the suspect fled. The individual threw a black plastic bag, recovered by police, which contained a Tupperware container with approximately 62 grams of marijuana.

Officers did manage to catch the individual, who, after a search at the scene, found him to be in possession of a loaded, silver, .32 caliber revolver, which had the serial number scratched off. He was transported to police headquarters where a subsequent search found him in possession of 1.7 grams of cocaine.

In a Press Release, the individual has been identified as Jerry Jackson, 27, of Newburgh. He was charged with one count each Criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree, Criminal possession of a controlled substance 5th degree, Criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree, Criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree, Criminal possession of marijuana 4th degree, and resisting arrest.

His custody or bail status is unknown at this time.
