If you plan on going to any of the Long Island State Park beaches this summer, you might want to check out the lifeguards. Wait, let me rephrase that, you might want to notice what they're wearing. Okay, one more try at this, you may be impressed as to how stylish and safe the uniforms will be this season. It's all thanks to the help of a world famous fashion house.

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation are collaborating with Tommy Bahama for the official lifeguard uniform t-shirts, rashguard and board shorts. According to the NYS Parks, Tommy Bahama will bring its relaxed philosophy to the beautiful beaches of Long Island this summer.

Not only will they be stylish, but, for the first time, they will be made from fabrics with a UPF 50+ rating for sun protection. Tommy Bahama will provide 500 uniforms in navy blue and yellow, all featuring a specially designed co-branded logo. In addition, Tommy Bahama recognition signs will be on lifeguard chairs, stands and lifeguard shacks.

The Jones Beach Lifeguard Corps is responsible for water safety operations within seven heavily visited metropolitan New York beaches, including three major facilities on the Atlantic Ocean and two pools at Long Island State Parks, which serves an estimated 12 million visitors each season.

Not only will Tommy Bahama be outfitting these men and women, they will also provide scholarships to support the popular Junior Lifeguard program, which provides training for young adolescents to become future lifeguards within the New York Metropolitan area beaches.
