This is why they always tell you stay off the roads during a snowstorm unless it's an absolute emergency.

New York State Police say they responded to over 1,100 vehicle accidents after last week's snow hit the area. The Times Herald reports that there were over 1,500 disabled and abandoned vehicles.

The combination of the snow and bitterly cold temperatures made travel even more slippery and dangerous. Police say there eighty-one injuries and three deaths resulting from the crashes.

One of those injuries was actually a State trooper from western New York. Fox News reports that the trooper's car was one of 21 vehicles involved a huge accident on I-90 near Batavia, N.Y.
