A Hudson Valley man who State Police have been looking for this past week has been arrested after a report that he raped a child.

State Police members assigned to the Sullivan County Family Violence Response Team, along with Investigators and Troopers from the Liberty barracks, arrested 51-year-old Douglas A. Shindler of Jeffersonville after investigating a report that he engaged in sexual intercourse with a child.

State Police had been attempting to locate Shindler for the past week and arrested him in the Village of Jeffersonville after receiving a tip from a local resident about Shindler’s whereabouts.

Shindler was charged with third-degree rape, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned in the Town of Delaware Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail.
