A man impaired by drugs led police on a brief chase in Ulster County, authorities say.

Richard M. Depauw, 60, of Woodstock was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle, driving while ability impaired by drugs and several traffic violations.

On Wednesday morning, Deputies observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop for officer and fled. Following a brief pursuit, Deputies were able to stop the vehicle.

The operator, Mr. Depauw, was taken into custody. Further investigation revealed that Depauw was operating the vehicle while impaired by drugs, authorities saud. He was also found in possession of diverted pharmaceuticals.

Depauw was arrested and taken to the Ulster County Law Enforcement Center and released with appearance tickets to appear in the Town of Kingston Court.
