Original Beacon Fire Department Headquarters Location Closes After 113 Years

Changes are coming to Beacon, New York in form of a new firehouse. Which means, out with the old and in with the new.

After 113 years in service the Mase Hook and Ladder at 425 Main Street in Beacon, closed on October 27th, 2024.

On Facebook, Beacon Professional Firefighters wrote "We are excited to transition to one firehouse where firefighters will be together for their entire shift, training together, eating together, building camaraderie, as well as the critical safety factor of finally responding to emergencies simultaneously together!"

The new location on Wolcott Avenue has been under construction for the last few months and is finally ready for their opening and official building dedication.

 

City of Beacon Announces New State of The Art Firehouse

On October 29th, 2024, the City of Beacon announced the opening of their newly renovated, state-of-the-art firehouse at 1140 Wolcott Avenue.

In the statement the City of Beacon explains how the new facility represents "a major step forward in enhancing the city’s emergency response capabilities and improving public safety for Beacon’s residents and visitors."

The new Beacon firehouse features include improved apparatus bays, advanced training spaces, and living quarters "designed to enhance the well-being and readiness of Beacon's firefighters."

Plus the Wolcott Avenue firehouse was designed with "sustainable features" that align with the City of Beacon's environmental goals. The new building was also built to support the "all-hazards approach of modern fire departments" which will allow Beacon firefighters to respond to medical, fire, rescues, and hazardous material emergency incidents "with improved readiness and efficiency."

Opening Day For New Beacon Firehouse

The new City of Beacon firehouse will have a formal grand opening Saturday, November 16th at 10 am at the new 1140 Wolcott Avenue location.
