A popular farm stand in Ulster County is closing its doors after 45 years in business.
Wilklow Orchards in Highland, NY Announces Closure
The staff at Wilklow Orchards in Highland, New York took to social media this week to announce they were closing their farm stand.
On Instagram, they wrote:
After after 45 years of opening our doors to the public for Apple picking in the fall, we have decided to end pick your own at our farm.
Customers of the farm stand were saddened to hear the news. As hard it was for former customers, it was even harder for the Wilklow Orchard family as they explain "This decision was not easy, and we have truly enjoyed sharing our farm and our lives with you over the years."
Wilklow Orchards, which sits on Pancake Hollow Road in Highland, has been in business for 45 years. As they write on Instagram, they started as just a table selling vegetables in front of the house and over the years turned into a hub of the Highland community.
We wish the whole Wilklow Orchard family and staff much success in their future endeavors.
What's The Future Hold for the Bad Seed Farm Bar?
In the comment section of Wilklow's announcement, many wondered what the future would hold for staples at the orchard like the Bad Seed farm bar and live music nights.
One comment reads "no more farmside fridays!?!?" To which Bad Seed responded and gave a hopeful update. Bad Seed wrote:
"While it is the end of the farm Bar we are open at our Taproom down the road and will extend hours this Fall into the evening. We have been working hard the past few weeks to make the taproom even better and ready to keep the farm bar atmosphere."
We'll keep a close eye on that update for sure!
