Spooky Season Is Quickly Approaching Hudson Valley Haunts

While we're smack dab in the middle of summer here in the Hudson Valley, there is a specific group of local businesses getting ready to dive into their busiest season.

Local haunted attractions are prepping for Halloween 2026.

Places like Double M's Haunted Hayride in Ballston Spa hosted a Halfway to Halloween celebration in June and Home Depot slowly started to release their Halloween decor by the end of May.

Headless Horseman in Ulster Park Announces 2026 Theme

As we slowly approach spooky season, the extremely popular Headless Horseman in Ulster Park has shared some details about this upcoming season.

On social media they write:

Beneath the sodden, cursed earth, the black waters nourish the swarms below. Infested. Blighted. Festering.

The Cursed Earth. September 26 2026.

And shared this creepy photo:

We took a look at their website and the hayride sounds like it will be exceptionally scary. Here's what to expect from this years hayride:

A soldier that wouldn’t stay dead made their lives waking nightmares.

The description goes on "They buried the abomination’s head to stop the killing, cast it into a cursed well where plague and insects festered in the dark." It sounds like things take a turn when "The dead refused to stay buried."

During the hayride the town you're riding through is "under quarantine, the infection is spreading, and something in the darkness is calling its missing pieces home." YIKES!

It looks like more details will be released in the future as we get closer to fall.

With that being said tickets for The Headless Horseman tickets are on sale now. Opening night will take place on Saturday September 26th, 2026.

Upstate New York Haunted Attraction Catches Fire

People travel from all over the U.S. to visit the top haunted attractions across New York State.

Sadly, one of the more popular attractions in Upstate New York received devastating news in the middle of July 2026.

Field of Horrors in Troy, New York went up in flames. They Field of Horrors team wrote on social media "This fire may have damaged our attraction, but it hasn’t taken away the passion behind it."

While they know the road ahead wont be easy, they are "already looking toward the future." Field of Horrors has plans to rebuild and hopefully be ready for Spooky Season 2026.
