Disturbing Video Leads to Arrest After Senior Dog Allegedly Abused at Westchester Groomer

An arrest has been made in an animal cruelty case of Westchester County, and the incident was all caught on security camera.

Senior Dog in Westchester Acting Strange After Grooming Appointment

A 14-year-old senior pup named Milo went to a grooming appointment on July 26th, 2026 at Dogtopia of Mount Kisco.

According to a press release from SPCA Westchester, Milo's owner noticed that the dog "wasn't walking properly, constantly sleeping and had lost his appetite."

Milo was then rushed to a local veterinary office where they discovered "bruising all along Milo's torso, indicative of recent trauma."

After a quick investigation, authorities found what caused the trauma and the evidence is disturbing.

Peekskill Man Arrested After Animal Cruelty Caught on Camera in Mount Kisco

SPCA Westchester obtained video from Dogtopia of Mount Kisco that shows Milo's grooming appointment from July 26th.

In the video Cole Kamrath of Peekskill, New York, is seen on video violently slamming Milo on the grooming table. This incident took place during a nail trimming appointment.

SPCA Westchester states that Milo is then seen on the video "collapsing as he loses consciousness."

The video was originally posted on social media, has been taken down, but a screenshot was later shared:

When the video was discovered, Dogtopia "immediately terminated" Kamrath.

Local Animal Activist React to Mount Kisco Dogtopia Animal Cruelty Case

SPCA Westchester's Chief Executive Officer, Shannon Laukhuf, said in the statement.

“We are extremely grateful that Milo’s abuser was captured on video and that this horrific act of cruelty was reported to the SPCA’s HLE Unit."

Laukhuf adds "It is deeply disturbing that someone in a profession dedicated to caring for animals would so deliberately and viciously harm one.”

Susan Cacace, Westchester County District Attorney, also shared their thoughts in the press release saying "When someone is entrusted with the care of another person’s beloved pet, they have a responsibility to treat that animal with kindness and respect."

DA Cacace went on to praise Dogtopia's swift action after learning about the abuse and adding:

I am grateful to our partners at SPCA Westchester for their diligent investigation and working closely with my office’s Animal Cruelty Coordinator, and I commend Dogtopia Daycare for taking swift action upon learning of the alleged abuse of sweet Milo.

Dogtopia reached out to us with a statement regarding the incident that took place at their Mount Kisco location.

They write:

We are aware of a serious matter involving a former employee at our location. When our team identified disturbing conduct involving the former employee, we terminated the employee and immediately contacted local law enforcement. We’re fully cooperating with their ongoing investigation.

The safety and well-being of every dog in our care remains our highest priority. We take any incident seriously to provide the safest possible environment for all dogs entrusted to us.
