Hopewell Junction Sparks Up Debate Over Controversial New Mobile Business
A 'new arrival' to this busy intersection in the Hopewell Junction/East Fishkill area has people talking, lots of people in fact.
It seems as though a mobile dispensary bus has been parked in a business parking lot off of Rt. 82 near where it meets Lake Walton Rd has the local community in a frenzy.
Dispensary Bus Parks Outside Hopewell Businesses
I actually drove by the extremely eye-catching converted bus the other day as I was heading into Hopewell from Wappingers Falls, and didn't think twice when I noticed, and also didn't think to grab a photo now that I think about it.
It appears that many people who did drive by and see what is being referred to as the 'pot mobile' parked at 562 Rt. 82 in Hopewell Junction did in fact have concerns about why it was there and the legality of it actually doing business in this town.

The truck, which is operated by dispensarybus.net has been parked immediately out front of what once was Lastin Impressions Tattoo, and adjacent to Pan and Peel Pizza and CC Sounds Car & Stereo. According to the Dispensary Bus website, as well as their social media pages (@licenseddispensarybus and @seansdispensarybus), this is an advertised location, in addition to their Monroe spot at 3 Snoop Street.
'Pot Mobile' Causes Frenzy In This Dutchess County Town
While there were definitely a number of people who appeared to be ok with (or even happy about) this mobile dispensary being set up in Hopewell Junction, one post in the East Fishkill Community Forum has sparked a lot of debate about the truck's location, and even if they're 'allowed' to be selling in town.
Nearly 200 comments have flooded the original post which simply asked the following question:
So who knows whats up with the POT MOBILE across from stewarts on 82?
Some people were quick to jump behind their keyboard to throw claims out that the truck 'probably isn't licensed,' while other community members questioned how this type of sale is legal given that Hopewell Junction/East Fishkill is known as an 'opt-out town.'

Others were quite vocal about this particular scenario causing local kids and teens to become addicted to drugs, and questioning why the truck was parked so close to Joe's Dairy Bar where the kid/teen demographic visit frequently.
Of course, then there was the 'tell me more' crowd who wanted to know if this was a permanent spot and what the truck's hours of operation were going to be.
Whether you decide to visit the 'pot mobile' or not, (but especially if you do) did you know that not far down the road there's a legit Food Truck Park in East Fishkill with all sorts of great eats?
