Don’t Miss: Amazing Halloween Photos from the NICU
Halloween might be in the rearview mirror, but the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Vassar Brothers Medical Center and Danbury Hospital are staying in the spirit just a few days longer.
"In the NICU, progress is measured a little differently", began the opening narration of a recent video posted by Vassar Brothers Medical Center. "We celebrate each little milestone as a big win, so when Halloween comes around, no doubt do little costumes have a big meaning".
Vassar Brothers Medical Center Shares Halloween Photos from the NICU
Vassar Brothers shared that the photos, which have been shared hundreds of times and seen by thousands of people, were posted to not only celebrate the season, but to serve as a reminder that there is happiness even in the hardest of times. The parents of a baby boy born at 28 weeks shared just how meaningful it was:
It's really nice that were getting to not only experience the holidays while being here, but having the nursing staff putting them in costumes and doing photoshoots with the babies... it's a tough time, but having this positivity is really encouraging for us

The comment section was also full of thanks from parents who had experienced similar situations with their children. "The NICU staff at Vassar took care of my sweet boy Max when he was born at 33 weeks", shared a Hudson Valley parent. "As a nurse myself, they were the kindest, most compassionate group of nurses I have met thus far and am forever thankful for the care and support they provided to us during that difficult time".
