Hudson Valley Man Arrested for Driving Pickup on Sidewalk
Sidewalks are supposed to be for people and roads are supposed to be for pickup trucks, but police say one Hudson Valley man got things a little mixed up.
A local man is facing charges of DWI and aggravated driving while intoxicated after police say he was spotted driving his pickup truck on a sidewalk. Mid Hudson News reports that the whole spectacle took place in the City of Kingston's downtown area.
Witnesses say they saw a pickup truck driving along the sidewalk, so they thought it best to alert police. After being giving a description of the vehicle, authorities say they spotted the same pickup truck on lower Broadway and pulled it over. The driver, Robert Baker of Palenville, was given a sobriety test. According to police, he failed.
Luckily, there were no injuries reported. This whole situation could have had a much different ending if people happened to be walking on the sidewalk that Baker has been accused of driving on.
