One of the Hudson Valley's favorite places to grab a hot dog has closed for good, with no plan of reopening.

A restaurant that elevated hot dogs to a whole new level has shuttered its doors, leaving wiener fans in the Hudson Valley craving for more. Just a few weeks ago Soul Dog on Main Street in Poughkeepsie mysteriously closed its doors, and now the Poughkeepsie Journal reports that they will not be opening up again.

There is no message on their Facebook page and the official Soul Dog website is still up and running, but a former general manager told the Journal that the restaurant will not be reopening.  Owner, Susan Ardith Wysocki, moved out of the area, and it seems as though she took her soul sauce with her.

The former employee explained that with the owner located so far away from the business it was just impossible for her to keep it running properly. There is hope that another location may open, but it most likely won't be anywhere near Poughkeepsie.

Those who are sensitive to gluten came to depend on Soul Dog for their homemade gluten-free products. Those are also gone, along with those addictive, hand-cut soul fries.

Rest in peace, Soul Dog. You will be sorely missed.
