A Hudson Valley man who sexually abused a 3-year-old and is considered a "Sexually Violent" sex offender was arrested.

The Ulster Police Department reported they arrested Anthony J. Esposito, 33, of the Town of Ulster for failure to register/change of address under the Sex Offender Registration Act, a felony.

Esposito, who was convicted of aggravated sexual abuse in 2005, was ordered to register with the New York State Sex Offender Registry. At the time of his conviction, and again many times since 2005, Esposito was notified of his requirement and registration obligations to the Sex Offender Registry, according to the Ulster Police Department.

In April of 2019, Esposito submitted paperwork to the Sex Offender Registry that did not meet his registration obligation, police say.

Esposito was arraigned in the Town of Ulster Justice Court by Town of Ulster Town Justice Susan Kesick and was released in his own recognizance. Esposito is to appear back in the Town of Ulster Justice Court at a future date.

Esposito was convicted of aggravated sexual abuse of a 3-year-old boy in 2005, according to the New York State Sex Offender's Database. The Level-3 sex offender who's listed as a "Sexually Violent Offender" was sentenced to 9 years in prison.

Level-3 sex offenders are considered to have the highest risk of a repeat offense and are considered the greatest risk to the public.
