The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a Heat Advisory for today thru Sunday (Aug 5th) at 9pm. The recent storms that came through the Hudson Valley most likely added to the humidity rather than relieving it which could be leading to this weather problem. Parts of the Hudson Valley will be experiencing heat with index values in the mid 90's due to the temperatures and dew points being so high. Areas of Eastern Ulster, Western Dutchess, Eastern Greene and Western Columbia counties will be effected.

It is important to stay cool and check on the elderly and any one you know who might be affected by this weather condition. The combination of heat and humidity can cause heat related illnesses.

According to the National Weather Service "A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible."  It is important to use common sense during a heat advisory. Stay in air conditioning if possible. Stay out of the sun. Drink plenty of water. If you must work outside take frequent breaks in the shade. If you do get overcome by the heat move to the shade and consider medical help. Heat stroke is an emergency. Remember animals and pets are effected as well so it is important to keep things things in mind for them as well.
