‘Hamilton’ Star Makes Hudson Valley Appearance
A star of the Broadway smash-hit "Hamilton" was in the Hudson Valley this week.
Students at the Newburgh Free Academy were treated to a private audience with Elizabeth Schuyler herself. Lexi Lawson, an alumnus of the Hudson Valley high school,, is currently playing the starring role of Alexander Hamilton's wife, Eliza on Broadway.
Lawson spent time speaking with students about her time growing up in Newburgh, the important role the arts plays in education and how she started working in theater, eventually landing a role in the biggest hit on Broadway.
The actress was joined by her former teacher, Mandy Clifford, who is now the dance teacher and musical director at NFA. In addition to reconnecting with her old teachers, Lawson was also able to spend time with family and friends.
On her Snapchat feed, the actress documented her ride to the school with her mother, who was blasting the Hamilton Mixtape the whole way. Lawson was also seen walking the halls of NFA with her long-time friend, and fellow NFA graduate, Lindsay.
