A Hudson Valley woman and her dog were rescued from the ledge of a mountain, after the dog fell down 20-feet.

An Elka Park woman and her dog were rescued on Platte Clove Mountain, after the dog fell 20-feet and the woman went after it, as reported by The Daily Freeman.

The woman and her dog were walking on a trial at the base of Platte Clove Mountain, when the dog slipped out of her collar and fell down a 20 foot ravine. The woman climbed down to retrieve the dog, but was unable to get out.

Marcia L. Johnson called 911 from a ledge where her and the dog were stuck. Police and firefighters arrived to rescue the pair. Rescuers rappelled down to reach the woman and her canine friend.

Saugerties police and a crew from the Centerville Cedar/Grove Fire Department helped with the rescue.

Thankfully, both Johnson and the dog were unharmed.
