For anyone who's afraid to go to the doctor, this has got to be your worst nightmare.

Deborah Craven was scheduled for surgery at the Yale-New Haven Hospital to have part of her eighth rib removed due to a painful lesion. The 60 year-old woman from Milford, Connecticut probably assumed she was in goods hands when she went for the surgery in May 2015.

Problem was, Craven was still feeling pain after the operation.

So, what was going on? According to the NY Daily News, the doctors removed her seventh rib, instead of her eighth like they should.

However, it doesn't stop there  An X-ray revealed that the metal markers used in surgery had been left inside her.

Now, she is suing.

Craven’s suit says that the doctor “attempted to cover up the removal of of the wrong body part” and is accusing him of unfair trade practices.

Craven's lawyer said that the patient asked that the surgeon-in-training who helped perform the botched surgery not be involved with the corrective follow-up surgery due to incompetency, but that he was anyway.

A spokesman for Yale-New Haven Hospital said that “even in the best organizations medical errors occur.”
