Chris Cornell’s Widow Thanks Fans for ‘Love and Support,’ Offers Submission Portal for Personal Tributes
If you've visited Chris Cornell's website and social media in recent months, it has been filled with personal tributes from longtime friends and family members to peers and even some fans that had connected with the singer in some way. In a new posting from Chris Cornell's widow Vicky, she offers a thanks to all those who have left messages of love and has launched a new submission portal to gather all the tributes which she wants to share on the singer's website.
"Since my husband's tragic passing, fans from all over the world have come together to share their feelings about what Chris and his music meant to them, leaving thousands of messages of love while visiting him at Hollywood Forever and online," says Vicky in an open letter on Cornell's social media.
"You have opened your hearts to me and our children and we are grateful to you for your sympathy, love and support in bringing us solace and helping us heal. You have given us the hope and strength to endure the pain of these very dark days. I want to thank all of you and I hope you will leave your tributes, personal stories and messages for our family, to be shared on Chris' site for everyone to read," she continues before signing off, "Loud love, VC."
Cornell linked to www.chriscornell.com/tributes/submit as the portal for submissions. If you have a tribute to share you may do so there.
In addition to the tribute site, it was recently reported that Cornell's native city of Seattle had planned to honor him as well with a statue being created by sculptor Wayne Toth. “[Toth] has already given me a design and the children and I love it,” Vicky Cornell says of the statue, which will take about seven months to build. “He is Seattle’s son. And we will be bringing him home and honoring him, I hope, with all of you, your love and support." The family is currently working with the city to determine the best location for the statue.
