Accidental Death at HITS in Saugerties

Few details have been released but Saugerties Police and the HITS organization are confirming that an accident occurred at the Horse Shows in The Sun grounds on Wednesday.

According to Rate My Horse Pro, Rebecca Weissbard, of Manorville was involved in the accident while competing in the Hudson VII. She was taken to Kingston Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

More details are expected to be released soon.

HITS is located in Saugerties and is home to numerous horse jumping events thru out the year.

One of their major events, HITS on the Hudson VII, started yesterday and will run thru Sunday. It features the USHJA Child and Adult Amateur Jumper Championships.

According to the HITS website, the HITS on the Hudson VIII that will feature the HITS Championship will begin on September 7th and run until Sunday September 11th.
