As we mentioned in our post for Wednesday’s weather, I expected with the way the forecast was looking for the National Weather Service to issue another heat advisory for Thursday.  They did, it will start a bit earlier and end a bit earlier.  Thursday’s heat advisory runs from 11am to 7pm.

Thursday’s weather will be a bit unsettled for the Hudson Valley.  A cold front is moving through the region and this will touch off scattered showers and thunderstorms.  So, for the first part of the day, you’ll probably see a good deal of sunshine, with these scattered showers and storms.  Then as we head into the afternoon, there is a good chance of showers and thunderstorms.

The heat index will be higher than the past few days, with temps reaching over 101.  Good news, drier and much cooler area on the other side of the front.  Friday looks nice.

Here’s the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:

Thursday:  Sunny and hot, high near 90.  Heat index values as high as 101.  A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2pm, then likely after 3pm.

Thursday night:  A chance of showers and thunderstorms early, otherwise mostly cloudy.  Low around 67.

Friday:  Mostly cloudy, high near 73.  A slight chance of showers.

Saturday:  Partly sunny, high near 73.
