Six women were charged with promoting prostitution following an investigation which led police to a hotel in the Village of Fishkill, according to a report in The Poughkeepsie Journal.

According to police, "Information was developed indicating the women were advertising on backpage.com, inferring they would provide sexual favors in exchange for money."

All six women were charged with 4th-degree misdemeanor prostitution. The women were from Newburgh, Poughkeepsie, Troy, Slingerlands (Albany County), and Philadephia.

One of the women, 34-year old from Newburgh, had an active bench warrant and was turned over to Walkill police after she was processed.

As for the rest of the women, they received appearance tickets for Village of Fishkill court in February.

State and Local police were assisted by the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.
