UPDATE:

The assault charges against George Zimmerman have been dropped after his girlfriend recants her statement.

After he was arrested on aggravated assault charges for apparently throwing a bottle of wine at his girlfriend, his girlfriend was later subpoenaed for missing a meeting at the Florida State Attorney's Office.

When they finally talked to her, she made it clear that she did not want to move forward with the case. She denied that Zimmerman had thrown a bottle of wine at her, and that she was not in fear of him, which was claimed by police officers.

In a statement from State Attorney Phil Archer he said: “the subsequent recantation by the victim of her initial statement along with new documents provided by the victim and her attorney precludes my office from proceeding further.”

ORIGINAL STORY:

George Zimmerman was arrested late Friday night on charges of aggravated assualt, and apparently there is a weapon involved.

Yes, this is the same George Zimmerman that was acquited in the shooting death of an unarmed black teen back in 2013.

He is being held on $5,000 bond, and has been ordered to surrender all firearms, even though the incident didn't actually invovle a firearm, according to a Judge.

This guy has not kept himself out of trouble since his high profile acquittal, having three encounters with police.

In 2013, his estranged wife told police that Zimmermen punched her father in the face and was threatening with a gun, she did not press charges. The second, his girlfriend had him arrested and accused him of domestic violence. Turns out police misquoted her, and charges were dropped.

Zimmerman was also involved in a road rage incident this past September.
