An Upstate New York Army post has shut down two well after low levels of perfluorinated chemicals were detected in the water.

Fort Drum officials said that two wells near Wheeler-Sack Army Airfield will be shutdown immediately. The levels of perfluorooctanoic acid , or PFOA, were well below the health advisory levels, set by the government. The wells will still be shut down, and the supply will be replaced, as reported by CBS 6.

Officials say the source of the chemical are most likely foams used to supress aircraft and fuel fires during exercises and actual emergencies.
