I am a big fan of local. Buy local, use locally grown produce, eat grass fed local meats whenever possible. Support your small local businesses. I try to live by it. Which is why I am all for the Local Ingredient Chili Challenge in New Paltz.

The 10th Annual Local Ingredient Chili Challenge is coming up on Saturday, Jan.27 from noon-3pm at the Water Street Market in New Paltz. All the chilies in the challenge will contain at least five local ingredients. So you know they will all be delicious.  The categories are best overall, best vegetarian, best professional (restaurant or chef), people's choice and most original.    It is only a dollar a ticket, and you get 3 ounces of chili. 12 tickets for $10 and 25 tickets for $20.

And it is all for a good cause. All proceeds from this event will go to The St. Joseph's non-denominational food pantry which is in need of supplies to feed hundreds of local families. Think local, buy local, use local ingredients, and be part of the Local Ingredient Chili Challenge in New Paltz on Saturday, Jan. 27.
