Get ready for the holiday season.  I am already hearing Christmas music in stores, there are decorations for sale, and more commercials for the holidays than I can keep track of.  But one thing that I am really excited about is The celebration of Lights in Poughkeepsie..

As a resident of the City of Poughkeepsie, this has always been one of my favorite days.  The city seems to come alive with holiday spirit.  This year, The City of Poughkeepsie, in conjunction with the Bardavon, and many others will present the 23rd annual Celebration of Lights Parade and Fireworks on Friday, December 2 at 6:30pm.

It all starts with the parade.  The route is Main Street to first tree lighting at Barney Building Lot, past arterial down Main Street right onto North Clover Street to Dongan Square Park, across from Noah’s Ark and Café Aurora for a second tree lighting.  Immediately following the second tree lighting there will be a fireworks display.

After the outdoor festivities, The Bardavon 1869 Opera House will be showing the family movie classic, “It’s A Wonderful Life” at 8 pm for only  $6.00/per person.  It's going to be a great night to kick off the holiday season.  For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/events/883454648422697/
