St. Patrick’s Day to Arrive One Day Early for the Hudson Valley
Contrary to what you may think, St. Patrick's Day comes on Friday this year, not Saturday.
At least, that's what will be happening in the Village of Walden. The annual tradition of kicking off St. Patrick's Day at Sweeney's Irish Pub will take place once again. But this year it will happen a day early, on Friday morning starting at 6am.
That's when The Boris and Robyn Show will begin a live broadcast to kick off the St. Patrick's Day weekend. Breakfast will be served up early for those who stop by to enjoy the live Irish music and participate in all things Gaelic throughout the morning. Pints of Guinness will start flowing at 8am, as dictated by local ordinances.
Traditionally, the live broadcast takes place on St. Patrick's Day morning each year, with many people ditching work to spend the day celebrating their Irish heritage. Because the holiday falls on a Saturday, this year's party is being held a day early.
Revelers can also enter to win tickets to see Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers at Bethel Woods on July 14, Dead and Company at Citi Field on June 15 and Poison with Cheap Trick on June 22.
