Popular New York State Brewery Destroyed in Massive Fire
Beer lovers and fellow brewers are coming to the aid of a beloved brewery in their time of need.
On Monday evening a massive blaze took seven fire departments and two ladder trucks to get under control. But when the fire was finally out, a popular brewery was completely destroyed. According to the Post Star, Common Roots Brewing Company in South Glens Falls was open when the fire began. Just hours after the brewery broke ground on a huge expansion the fire broke out and quickly swept through the building.
Several blocks of Route 9 near the brewery were kept closed to traffic on Tuesday because the fire caused so much damage. Luckily, even though the brewery was open at the time of the fire, everyone was able to get out safely and there were no injuries reported.
Other local breweries have already vowed to help Common Roots rebuild. Since 2014 the brewery has quickly developed a reputation for making great beer. Common Roots has earned an "exceptional" rating from BeerAdvocate.com.
Hudson Valley beer lovers are well aware of Common Roots brewery. The beer company is once again listed as an invited brewery at next month's TAP-NY festival. Because the fire completely wiped out the brewing equipment it's unclear when their beers will be available again.
