Tensions were high at a Hudson Valley middle school after a social media post said a student was going to bring a gun to school to kill another student.

Police in Ulster County responded MC Miller Middle School and investigated the social media threat.

After an investigation, the Ulster Police Department determined the threat actually came from another state. According to an MC Miller Middle School Facebook post, the social media threat was made against a middle school in a state with a similar name to MC Miller.

Turns out, the threat was allegedly made by a 14-year-old in Florida who attends McLaughlin Middle School, ABC Action News reports. The teen was charged with written threat to kill, a felony. The teen's threat was deemed not credible, police say.

No student from the Ulster County middle school was ever in danger, but school officials thanked the police for their immediate response and also thanked students who reported the issue.
