If you were woken up in the middle of the night by your toothbrush, you're not imagining things.

Have Sonicare toothbrushes become self aware? Is this the beginning of a real-live Westworld where oral hygiene products are rising up to take over mankind? No one's sure what's going on, but I can honestly say it's freaking me out.

I was fast asleep this week when I woke up to a strange buzzing sound down the hall. After cautiously poking my head into the bathroom I saw that my electric toothbrush was making random buzzing noises.  Half asleep and confused, I picked up and the brush and it stopped. After putting it back on the charger it started up again.

Here's a video I took of the possessed toothbrush:

The next morning I decided to search the web to find out if this was a common problem with Sonicare toothbrushes. I eventually stumbled across the Phillips Facebook page. The comments section was flooded with complaints from people who say the exact same thing started happening to them this week.

This week!

I read tales of the same story over and over again. People getting woken up in the middle of the night by their possessed toothbrushes. I purchased my toothbrush as a replacement six months ago, and like other Sonicare owners, noticed nothing strange until this week.

After talking with Sonicare representatives, they determined that something was wrong with my toothbrush (no kidding) and will be sending me a replacement. But there was no explanation for the sudden meltdown, or why so many other people have had the same experience this week.

Do you own a Sonicare toothbrush? If so, has yours started talking in the middle of the night? Let us know if anything strange starts happening by posting in the comments section below or on our Facebook page.
