A jury has awarded James Ferrari, a New York City man $95,000 three years after Long Island police seized and auctioned off his Ferrari, following a drunk driving arrest.

Ferrari, a Manhattan real estate broker was pulled over in his 2003 Ferrari Modena in 2009, in Suffolk County, as reported by ABC News.

A court justice ruled that officers were right to seize the $110,000 Ferrari. A forfeiture proceeding in 2012 resulted in Ferrari surrendering the title to his Ferrari. The county then auctioned off his Ferrari.

Ferrari, the now ex-owner sued in federal court. Three years later a judge ruled that the county went to far, and award Ferrari the payout.

Though Ferrari shares his name with the car maker, he has no relation to anybody at the company.
