Tired of paying off your student loans?

One man thinks he's found quite the unique loophole that would get him out of paying his nearly worth of $60,000 of student loans.

His argument? He never should have been given the money in the first place.

Ian Locklear was accepted into the University of South Florida in 1989. What makes this case different is that according to the the Tampa Tribune, Locklear withdrew from Hillsborough High School to attend college full time in January 1990. Thus, he never completed the 11th grade and never got a high school or equivalency diploma.

Locklear ended up graduating from college in May 1995. In that time, he had racked up with $56,485 in loans. That's not counting the interest the loans have built up over the years either. That would be an extra $10,891.

So now the 44 year-old Locklear is suing John King Jr., secretary of the U.S. Department of Education, to have his student loans immediately discharged.

The lawsuit argues that Locklear should never have been given the loans because he did not have his high school diploma. In order for one to qualify for the Federal Family Education Loan Program, students have to meet requirements including the “ability-to-benefit", says the Tampa Tribune.

Locklear's high school transcript says: “student withdrew due to early admissions to USF. Did not graduate from Hillsborough H.S.”
