It’s one of my favorite scents, fresh cut grass! I love the smell of this and look forward to it when everyone is mowing their lawn especially during the first signs of spring. This gives us another reason to be outside, get some fresh air and create a clean space to garden, play and relax.

When we think about home owner guidelines in New York State, we may relate it to snow removal or garbage. However, it can pertain to grass as well.

A Hudson Valley village shared helpful information on social media. They were informing the community on how to properly dispose of grass in the area.This may be new to some residents, while others are simply being reminded of these guidelines.

Village Of Monticello Shares Helpful Reminder Of Grass Rules


The Village of Monticello shares that residents should “Keep grass off the roads”. This notice was given on their latest social media post. They continued to share,

“The Village of Monticello reminds everyone that blowing grass clippings into the street isn't just a mess—it’s illegal and dangerous.”

They included that grass clippings arent safe for those who are driving on the roads including motorcycles. It’s also important to keep grass off of roads so that they don’t go into drains. The Village of Monticello highlighted that keeping grass off roads and sidewalks is essential for the safety of other residents.

Did You Know There Was A Certain Code About Grass In New York State?


The Village of Monticello is teaching us something that we may not have known! In their social media post, they shared,

“Under Village Code § 240-20, it is prohibited to deposit yard waste or litter onto any public street or sidewalk.”

They included a helpful tip for residents which includes using the direction of the mower chute away from any sidewalks or roads. The Village of Monticello asks residents to sweep grass clipping off of roads if it happens to get onto it from using a mower.
