While Monticello, New York is the actual bagel capital of the world (it's true, look it up!) one Ulster County town is coming up on its heels.

Moonrise Bagel Expands Across The Hudson Valley

Ali Chetkof and Jeremy Rhodes opened the original Moonrise Bagel in Woodstock, New York in 2021 and quickly became a hit across the Hudson Valley and the nation.

What captured the hearts and appetites of Moonrise Bagels fans was that these bagels were stuffed with incredible ingredients like pizza, buffalo chicken, and breakfast staples like Bacon, Egg, and Cheese.

After finding much success in Woodstock, Ali and Jeremy opened a 2nd location in Poughkeepsie, New York across from Marist College in the summer of 2024.

In September of 2024,  Moonrise Bagels won the award for Most Creative Bagel at BagelFest at Citi Field in Queens,  New York. Bagel fans love what Moonrise has to offer.

With that being said, is the local stuffed bagel company expanding to a 3rd location in the Mid-Hudson region?

Is An Award-Winning Bagel Shopping Opening a 3rd Location in Kingston?

If you're like me, you're probably following Moonrise Bagels on social media and drooling over photos and videos on their Instagram grid.

Over the weekend  Moonrise Bagels shared a few cryptic photos on their IG story like this one:

That iconic Moonrise blue painted on a vacant Kingston building, what could they be working on?!

We'll be keeping an eye on this building for the next few weeks and will update you with any news that comes our way.

Is Kingston, NY The New Hot Spot for Hudson Valley Bagels?

We're super excited to see what Moonrise Bagels is working on in the Kingston area, but this new addition has us thinking: Is Kingston the new hot spot for bagels in the Hudson Valley?

Just recently, FANTZYE Bagel shared that they would be moving into 392 Hasbrouck Ave in Kingston at some point in 2024. FANTZYE Bagel is a sourdough bagel shop that originated as a food truck on Martha's Vineyard in 2020.

On social media, owner and operator Elana Carlson announced that they were very close to opening up the sourdough bagel shop first storefront in the Hudson Valley. There are a few odds and ends that they need help funding before the big opening.

With that being said, they created a campaign with NuMarket.co. The donations collected through the campaign will help with malware purchasing, finishing work, and some equipment.

For every dollar you donate to the campaign, you get "120% back in credits to spend at Fantzye Bagels toward bagels, sandwiches, schmears, coffee, merch, and more."
