Welcome Hudson Valley! This is Conor Walsh, host of In Touch, Townsquare Media of the Hudson Valley’s Award-Winning Public Affairs and Issues program.

This week on In Touch, we speak with Jennifer Perris from AtYourHome LLC, a concierge home healthcare company that provides at home help for the elderly as well as acute medical emergency and needs assistance. Jennifer and I talk about the difference between formal and informal caregiving, and the landscape of the medical field in the Hudson Valley post-pandemic.

We invite you to join us and listen to a previously recorded conversation between Jennifer and myself here on In Touch.

AtYourHome LLC

What is the difference between an Informal and Formal caregiver? An informal caregiver is an unpaid individual (for example a spouse, partner, family member, friend, or neighbor) involved in assisting others with activities of daily living and or medical tasks. A formal caregiver is a paid care provider, providing care in one’s own home or care setting.

AtYourHome,LLC is not just a non-medical and home care services agency we want to be an extension of your family. Our job at AtYourhome, LLC is to assist the Informal Caregivers in the ability to provide care, stability, comfort, socialization, activity, and safety for their loved ones as well as maintain their own lives. Based on information from the Family Caregiver Alliance, caregivers can suffer from mental, emotional, and physical deterioration of their own personal health after one year of taking care of a loved one. The percentage can increase if the loved one lives within the home. “Caregiver Burnout” also known as caregiver “strain or burden” is a term coined by the mental, physical, and emotional exhaustion of taking care of a loved one (Aginginplace. org 2022-18-7).

When you hire AtYourHome,LLC you are deciding to get the additional help you need. The sigh of relief you will feel when the constraints of planning, rearranging, and rescheduling your life and your family’s around your loved one’s care is gone. From a daily walk or a manicure, to preparing meals and laying out their pills to a good ol’ fashion game of Gin Rummy, you can rest assured the person most important to you is as important to us. All done in the comfort of your loved one’s home.
