Meet New York Wildlife This Winter At The Zoo
Even though winter has set in you don't have to stop doing some of your favorite warmer weather activities. Many of the outdoor places you like to visit in the Spring, Summer, and Fall are open even in the winter.
Some places have to modify the activities they offer but they are still there with your favorite reason to visit. Before you assume that a place is closed because it seems seasonal check their social media or website. Visiting these places in the winter can be fun too.
Trailside Museums and Zoo at Bear Mtn State Park is Open this Winter
One place that is fun for the entire family is the Trailside Museums and Zoo at Bear Mountain State Park. The museum and its animal exhibits are open through the winter, but if the weather is too cold, they will close for the safety of visitors and the animals that call the Zoo home.
Last week in the frigid cold the Trailside Museums and Zoo did closed for three straight days. Each day they posted a note on their Facebook page so people would know not to make the trip. Regular hours during the winter are 10 AM to 4 PM seven days a week.

The Trailside Museums and Zoo are very good at keeping you up-to-date on the activities they have going on through their social media. That is also where they share great photos and videos of the New York wildlife that call the zoo home.

The picture above is Sylvia the resident Bobcat that can be seen in the winter mostly hanging out in her box in the front of her exhibit. Many animals at the zoo came there in need of rehab and were deemed unable to return to the wild so they now are the zoo ambassadors teaching all of us about the wildlife in the Hudson Valley.
