The amount of rain that came through the Hudson Valley this week was almost unbelievable. I was trying to compare it to Hurricane Irene. It seemed worse in a shorter time.

All over the Hudson Valley Monday morning there was water rushing across roads and ponds with water rising. The Hudson River was one of those areas that saw a lot of flooding from Catskill in the north all the way down to New York City.

Many Hudson Riverfront businesses did what they could to prepare for last Sunday's storm but unfortunately for some, it wasn't enough. Three waterfront restaurants took to social media to share pictures of their buildings surrounded by water.

Water Floods the Newburgh Water Front After December Storm

Billy Joe's Ribworks in Newburgh shared their view from the Newburgh waterfront. It was obvious they were surrounded by rising water so in good-natured fun they posted to social media asking if anyone wanted a waterfront table. Fortunately, they didn't have any major damage and could reopen the next day.

Hudson River Flooding in the Kingston Rondout Area After December Storm

The Rondout area of Kingston always gets a bit of a double hit when we get a lot of rain. The Rondout Creek which leads into the Hudson River has many businesses along it that battle water this week. Ole Savannah South Table and Bar shared pictures of their Sandbags.

Just last weekend they opened their community ice rink with a big Holiday celebration and this week they watched it get flooded by the water rising after Sunday's storm. They too were able to open after the water level went down, being spared any major damage.

Flood Water Closes Catskill Waterfront Restaurant for the Winter

Unlike the restaurants to the south, Frank Guido's Port of Call in Catskill was not so lucky with the Hudson River flooding. Port of Call shared that they did have damage inside the restaurant and therefore they will need to close for clean-up and repairs until Spring.

This couldn't have come at a worse time for them as they were in the middle of selling gift cards for the holidays. After posting their closed message they added that they would be open on Saturday to sell gift cards. The restaurant is closed but the bar will be open as well as their two-for-one gift card sale from 12 PM to 7 PM.

The gift cards are good for both of their locations, Port of Call in Catskill and Frank Guido's Little Italy in Kingston. If you are hoping to enjoy this delicious dish in Catskill it will have to wait until Spring.
