Freezing Cats at Upstate New York Animal Rescue Get Help

After a cold couple of days without heat, numerous cats have been rescued by an amazing New York community.

Most New Yorkers can agree that winters across the state can be brutal and oftentimes the things we rely on to keep us warm and safe during winter will wait until the worst time possible to stop working. It's happened to many of us once or twice in our lives, the boiler/furnace in your house works great all year until the dead of winter when you need it the most...it stops doing what it's supposed to do!!

Heating Nightmares in Winter

If that's ever happened to you, you are well aware that it can not only be difficult to find someone to fix the issue as soon as possible but it usually comes along with a hefty price tag. That nightmare is something none of us wish on anyone and when it happens to someone who's trying to do good how "warming" is that a community can come together to quickly get it fixed.

Animal Shelter in Hudson, New York Had Freezing Cats

Last week the folks at the Animal Kind animal shelter at 721 Warren St, Hudson, NY, had a heating emergency at the worst possible time, and in an effort to fix it, they pleaded with people on social media in the best way we've seen in some time.

They wrote on Facebook,

"Our cats are freezing! Our furnace broke and is beyond repair! We are out of funds and NEED YOUR HELP for this true emergency. PLEASE help us and donate toward a desperately needed new furnace."

The post included a cute picture of freezing cats and a link to a GoFundMe that the shelter set up to try and raise the funds needed to replace the furnace.

The shelter estimated that the cost of a new furnace would be somewhere around $20,000 and asked folks to donate anything they could to help,

"We are in DESPERATE need of a NEW furnace-our furnace broke yesterday and is beyond repair. Our cats (and staff) are freezing and we also have no hot water. It's winter and this is a true emergency for all of us at AnimalKind. Our funds are very low and we just don't have the finances for this emergency. Time is of essence, we plead with YOU to please DONATE NOW toward a new furnace we so desperately need. We are always here for the ones in need and now we need you. PLEASE HELP, so our rescues are warm & comfy after all they went through. Thank you!!"

Animal Kind Shelter Get New Furnace

In less than 3 days the shelter not only reached its $20k goal but surpassed it and was on the receiving end of a new furnace that was delivered and installed on Sunday. They took to social media to thank everyone for their generosity,

"THANK you ALL who donated and supported us in a great time of NEED! Because of your amazing generosity, we had a NEW furnace delivered today and it's being installed right now! Tomorrow our kitties (and staff) will be warm again-ONLY because of YOU! What an amazing community! We love you!"

A job well done by all involved and on behalf of animal lovers across New York thank you to everyone who donated!
