Dutchess County Man Wins Massive Jackpot on New York Lottery Scratch-Off
A Dutchess County man is celebrating a life-changing lottery win after claiming a $5 million top prize on a New York Lottery scratch-off ticket.
If you've ever played a New York Lottery game, you know the dream is always the same: win big. Most of us will never hit a jackpot, but it's always exciting to see someone from the Hudson Valley cash in on a life-changing prize.
Massive Lottery Jackpot Claimed by Dutchess County Man
For the second time this year, a Dutchess County resident has become a millionaire thanks to the New York Lottery. Lottery officials announced that Daniel Simmons of Red Hook, NY, has claimed the top prize on a Mystery Multiplier scratch-off ticket worth $5 million.

Simmons chose to receive his winnings as a one-time lump sum payment and, after all required taxes and withholdings, took home $2,180,856.
The lucky $20 scratch-off ticket was purchased at the Walmart located at 460 Fairview Avenue in Hudson.
Dutchess County Residents Having a Lucky Year
Simmons' win marks the second major lottery prize claimed by a Dutchess County resident in 2026.
Earlier this spring, Poughkeepsie resident Stephen Masten claimed a $1 million Powerball prize from the March 16 drawing. Masten matched all five white ball numbers, missing only the red Powerball to secure the game's second-place prize.

Now, just a few months later, another Dutchess County player is making headlines with an even bigger payout. While most of us can only dream about winning the lottery, Simmons is now one of the few Hudson Valley residents who can say a scratch-off ticket changed his life overnight.
Could you be the next big winner? It could happen, as the Mystery Multiplier game still has plenty of money left on the table. According to the New York Lottery, there are two top prizes that still haven't been claimed as of June 16, 2026.
