BarkAir Launching Charter Flights for Dogs in New York State

The project, called BarkAir, will launch with flights departing from White Plains, NY to either Los Angeles or London. Each flight has a limit of 10 dogs (and their owners) and are operated as a private charter service, which is reflected in the price.

BarkAir Flight Options for Dogs from White Plains, NY

Beginning on May 23rd, flights from New York to Los Angeles will start at $6,000 for one dog and one human, and flights from New York to London begin at $8,000. While the prices reflect the small flight sizes (BarkAir has partnered with charter service Talon Air, which provides the planes, pilots, and insurance), founders share that their vision for the future includes lower prices.

Long-Term Scaling Plans for BarkAir in New York

Scaling the project to larger planes and more passengers can eventually lower prices, says an answer on BarkAir's FAQ page. For now, however, the prohibitive price may make these flights an option only for travelers who were already considering private flights.

If money is no object, however, Hudson Valley mansion owners may delight in the new "airline". The cabins are optimized for dog-friendliness (think calming music and "warm lavender scented refreshment towels") and BarkAir even provides complimentary transportation for passengers after they land.
