A Hudson Valley postal employee admitted to stealing over $6,000 worth of stamps.

On Monday in Peekskill City Court, Antonio Pinheiro of Westtown confessed to stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of stamps from the U.S. Post Office in Peekskill where he was an employee. Pinheiro pleaded guilty to petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

The Orange County man was arrested in December 2018, followed a joint investigation by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Investigation Division.

A felony complaint alleged in 2017, Pinheiro stole approximately 14,000 stamps from the U.S. Postal Service while he was employed at the Peekskill post office to sell online. The stolen stamps were valued at over $6,000.

Pinheiro provided full up-front restitution of $6,860 and was sentenced to a 1-year conditional discharge.
