Hudson Valley Man and Girlfriend Admit to Plotting Wife’s Death
A Hudson Valley man says he and his girlfriend plotted to kill his wife.
NBC News reports that Ira Bernstein and his girlfriend, Kelly Gribeluk, both pleaded guilty on Monday to attempting to hire someone to kill Bernstein's estranged wife. They have also admitted to a plot to rough up insurance investigators who were preparing a fraud case against Bernstein's podiatry business.
The 42-year-old Rockland County man owns Rockland Podiatry in Suffern and Bardonia.
Prosecutors say that Bernstein tried to hire someone to kill his wife and make it look like an accident. Conversations about the plot were caught on wire taps and video.
The Rockland County man could face up to 15 years in prison. Gribeluk is expected to receive anywhere from four to 12 years in prison for her role in the plot.
The couple were arrested in May after an informant stepped forward to reveal their plan. The Bernsteins had three children together and were in the process of filing for divorce.
