It's that time of year again. Tax season, and if you aren’t sure that you know what you’re doing, or you need help but the cost of having your taxes done by someone else is prohibitive, here’s some good news.

From now until April 18, the date that returns must be filed by this year, the AARP Foundation will offer free tax preparation help to anyone, especially those who are 50 and older, who can't afford a tax preparation service through their Tax-Aide program.

This service is available for AARP members as well as non-members. Last year, more than 1,800 AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers helped over 131,000 New Yorkers file their federal and state tax returns.  The program is offered at approximately 350 sites in New York, including senior centers, libraries and other locations.

If you need help, or know someone who does, you can get more information at the AARP Tax Aide Foundation site. You can also call 1-888-227-7669. Take advantage of this great program with knowledgeable volunteers who can help reduce your stress this tax season.
