In the fall of 2015, NY State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman attempted to shutdown online fantasy sports sites, DraftKings and FanDuel.

Now, lawyers for the websites convinced a judge in the Appellate Division in Manhattan to freeze that ruling and now a panel of appeal judges has upheld that decision.

The sites will rename open. For now, that is.

It now falls on Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Manuel Mendez, when a full appeal is heard.

Stanley Schlein, an attorney for DraftKings said

We are appreciative of the Appellate Division decision and look forward to perfecting an appeal and hopefully reaching an amicable resolution with the state.

The Attorney General's communications director, Damien LaVera, said

Having already obtained a preliminary injunction against these companies, we look forward to demonstrating to the appellate division that the trial judge was correct. DraftKings and FanDuel are indeed operating illegal gambling operations in New York and should be permanently barred from doing business in New York.

Both websites say that their operations do not constitute gambling.
