Washington - President Obama Is set to propose two years of free community college for American workers Friday, in an effort to make community college as universal as high school is.

He is due to make a speech regarding this proposal on Friday in Knoxville, Tenn.

President Obama Posted a Video on Facebook teasing his proposal.

He had this to say:

"Put simply, what I'd like to do is to see the first two years of community college free for anybody who's willing to work for it," he said. "It's something we can accomplish, and it;s something that will train our workforce so that we can compete with anyone in the world."

The White House would not comment on where the funding will come from, or what the costs would be. Those details will be provided during the State of The Union on Jan.20.

The White House does expect about 9 million students to participate. That would save students about $3,800 a year, putting the cost at $34.2 billion. The Government would pay 3 quarters of that.

Obama said:

"It's not just for kids, we also have to make sure that everybody has the opportunity to constantly train themselves for better jobs, better wages, better benefits."
