Happy Birthday today (Nov. 4) to Jeff Scott Soto. The singer best known for his work with Yngwie Malmsteen and as a one time frontman for Journey is 50. He also sang for Swedish hard rock band Talisman from 1990-2007.

Soto played on Yngwie Malmsteen's first two albums and sang for Journey on their 2006-2007 tours after Steve Augeri had to leave the band due to an acute throat infection. His vocal style ranges from hard rock to heavy/power metal with musical influences ranging from the soul sounds of Sam Cooke to original Journey singer Steve Perry and Queen's Freddie Mercury.

Jeff Scott Soto has sang background vocals on several albums from many hard rock/metal artists like Lita Ford, Steelheart, House of Lords, Stryper, Saigon Kick and others. He's also released several solo albums. Soto also sang for the fictional band Steel Dragon in the movie Rock Star. Steel Dragon also featured Zakk Wylde, Jeff Pilson, and Jason Bonham on the Rock Star movie soundtrack along with Michael Matijevic of Steelheart. His latest project is his own band Soto.
