Tuesday, October 20: Rock n Roll Birthdays

Happy Birthday today (Oct. 20) to Tom Petty. He’s 65. Other rockers celebrating today include drummer Fred Coury of Cinderella (48), founding Foreigner member and keyboardist Alan Greenwood (64), and drummer Ric Lee of Ten Years After (70).

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers formed in 1976 out of Gainesville, Florida. The band has had a number of hits over the years and they continue to host sold-out shows. Tom Petty has sold over 80 million records worldwide throughout his career. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.

Tom Petty's latest studio album is Hypnotic Eye. Released in 2014 on Reprise Records, the album debuted at number on on the Billboard 200 chart.
